What's Happening In The Jewelry Market Right Now
Gold hit an all-time high of $5,589.38 per ounce on January 28, 2026.
This broke a record that had stood since 1980, adjusted for inflation, for 46 years.
Major banks now forecast gold could reach $5,700 to $6,000 per ounce by the end of this year.
At the same time, something very different is happening with lab-grown diamonds.
Wholesale prices for lab-grown stones have fallen as much as 93% since 2020.
Industry sources describe this as a structural shift, not a temporary dip.
Meanwhile, multiple jewelers have been criminally charged in 2025 and 2026.
The charges involve swapping natural diamonds for lab-grown stones and misrepresenting them to customers.
